Home Remedies for Diabetes

Diabetes is a very common disease especially among adults. There are millions of people worldwide suffering from diabetes and the in this condition the sugar level in blood is increased. There are two types of diabetes type-1 in which our body stops producing insulin and another is type-2 in when our body does not respond to insulin produced by our body. But you can reverse this condition if you follow our steps of home remedies on how to treat diabetes.

  1. Exercise

Exercise is not just good for your body but also good for your mind. If you are suffering from diabetes then start exercising daily. It will boost your immune system. Do a good cardio, Yoga, jogging and hiking. Regular exercise is good for diabetes patients.

  1. Protein diet

To get protein you can rely on plant based sources as plant based proteins contain balanced nutrition and low saturated fats. But animal meats are often processed heavily so they will raise cholesterol levels which are bad when your sugar level is high in your blood.

  1. Sugary diet

You should avoid sugary processed foods because they will raise your blood sugar. Try to take natural sugars like honey, maple syrup but in limitation. You should also take fruits but in moderation, and avoid gluten, cow’s milk, alcohol, refined oils.

  1. Avoid toxins

We get enough toxins from our environment even we get them through our foods. So, we cannot completely avoid toxins but we can reduce their intake. You can consume organic fruits, vegetables and dairy from grass fed cows.

  1. Fasting Mimicking diet

It is a good home remedy in which you have to fast mimicking diet as it will reverse the condition. It allows the pancreas to regenerate and produce new insulin cells. These new cells will fight diabetes.

  1. Ginseng

It has been proved that Ginseng can lower your blood sugar. You can prepare Ginseng tea as it has a pleasant taste. It will give you energy and stamina but don’t consume it when you are suffering from high blood sugar.

  1. Bitter Gourd

Bitter Gourd is highly effective in controlling diabetes because it contains a chemical called Charantin which lowers glucose from blood. It also helps you by increasing pancreatic insulin secretion. But you cannot replace insulin treatment with it. Drink bitter gourd juice on an empty stomach at morning daily or can take it with your meal.

  1. Cinnamon

Cinnamon contains components like cinnamaldehyde, cinnamate, cinnamic acid and some essential oils which help you by preventing diabetes. Take it in limited amount as consuming more cinnamon can increase your heart rate. You can add Cinnamon to tea or anything you wish.

  1. Indian Lilac

Indian Lilac or Neem is mostly found in India is very effective for treating Diabetes. Its bitter leaf increases insulin receptor sensitivity in Beta cells and lower down blood glucose level. It has been proved that Neem helps you by reducing the need of insulin by 60%.

  1. Flax seeds

Flax seeds are one of the best home remedies to treat diabetes. It is full of antioxidants which lead to drop in insulin resistance, because it reduces the oxidative stress in your body. Flax seeds are rich in fiber helping absorption of sugar and fats. You can consume ground flaxseed powder each morning with a glass of warm water in an empty stomach.

  1. Basil leaves

Basil leaves are packed with medicinal components. It contains essential oils and antioxidants which increase sensitivity to insulin. Compounds like methyl, eugenol help the pancreatic beta cells. Basil boosts insulin production and also lowers fasting glucose levels. You can take a few leaves whole in an empty stomach.

  1. Fenugreek Seeds

Fenugreek seeds are really great for treating diabetes as these brown seeds are packed with fiber and nutrients help to lower blood sugar levels. To use it you have to just soak one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in hot water overnight and take it in the next morning in empty stomach. Repeat this step for the next few days for a better result.

  1. Indian Gooseberry

You can treat your sugar with the help of Indian Gooseberry as it is packed with vitamin C which is good for functioning of the pancreas. To use it you have to discard its seeds and grind amla into a paste. Then strain the paste so that you can extract the juice. Take 2 tablespoons of the juice and add them in a cup of water and drink the water in an empty stomach.

Curry is an easily available kitchen staple and is a great home remedy to reduce the sugar in your blood .All you have to do is chew 13 to 14 fresh Curry leaves daily. Curry leaves also help to lower cholesterol level and losing weight.

  1. Aloe Vera

If you are suffering from diabetes you can consume Aloe Vera juice as it controls sugar levels. Aloe Vera juice is easily available in stores and it is not costly. Aloe Vera is rich in phytosterols. You have to drink two times daily for a better result.

  1. Guava

It is evident that Guava is packed with vitamin C and fiber helping the sugar levels in check. To reap its benefits eat one fresh guava daily.

  1. Black Plum

Black Plum contains anti-diabetic properties like hydrolysable tannins, anthocyanins. It helps to lower your sugar levels. It is a seasonal fruit so you have to buy them when available in the market and dry them. Make a powder of the fruit and consume a teaspoon daily.

One home remedy is Fig leaf which is found in Spain and South Western Europe. It is a good remedy to control sugar in your blood.

  1. Mango leaves

Mango leaves are easily available and a great home remedy to cure diabetes. Mango leaves help reducing glucose absorption in your gastrointestinal tract. To intake mango leaves you need to boil 13 to 14 mango leaves in one glass of water. Filter the water and leave it overnight. Drink the water in the next morning.

  1. Bay leaves

Bay leaves have great medicinal values and are used to treat diseases like Diabetes, heart ailments etc. It helps to improve insulin function. Mix half a teaspoon of ground bay leaf and half a teaspoon of turmeric in one tablespoon Aloe Vera gel. Consume it twice daily before lunch and dinner.

It is evident that Alfalfa reduces and stabilizes your blood sugar. So, if you are suffering from Diabetes you should take one or two teaspoon of crushed alfalfa seeds. It will definitely help you lowering blood sugar.

As we all know Sun is the greatest source of vitamin D and this vitamin can improve the production of insulin. It is a very easily available home remedy as you only have to expose yourself in the Sun. It is good for both types of diabetes.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar can control your sugar in your blood and also your glucose level. Apple Cider Vinegar can also help you by losing weight. To take it you have to take a glass of water and add two spoonful of Apple Cider Vinegar and drink it before meal daily.

  1. Grapes

It has been proved by researchers that grape skin extract(GSE) exerts an inhibitory activity on hyperglycemia which helps in managing the sugar levels in your blood.

  1. Diet without Gluten

It has already been proved by researchers that gluten free diet can reduce diabetes especially the risk of type-1 diabetes.

  1. Canola Oil

Researchers suggest that canola oil enriched low-GL diet might improve glycemic control in type-2 diabetes. So, you can use it to control and manage your sugar levels in your blood.

  1. Sleep

If you are suffering from Diabetes then you should sleep without any disturbances for at least 8 hours daily. Sleep will help you getting fresh and stress free.

  1. Breakfast

Take a high energy breakfast and low energy dinner because a recent research has proved that it will help in reducing hyperglycemia in type-2 diabetes.

  1. Low salt intake

Studies suggest that intake of diet which is high in salt increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases in people suffering from Diabetes. So, try to take low salt diet.
