Home Remedies for Anal Itching

Many of us experience anal itching in our daily life. People normally find it embarrassing. Usually the cause of anal itching is skin irritation. So, we have a list of home remedies for you to get rid of anal itching.

  1. Lemon Grass

The herb contains allergens and antioxidants that can help you by solving skin problems. Add some lemongrass to your bath water and continue using it for a long time. It will help you a lot.

  1. Psyllium Husks

It a a great home remedy as it is good for constipation, which is one cause of itching around your anal area. You can add one tablespoon of psyllium husks to a glass of boiling milk and consume it.

  1. Lemon Juice

According to a study lemon helps to reduce the inflammation so it helps giving relief from infection completely. You can directly apply it on your skin. Simply, take some fresh lemon juice ,and then use a cotton pad to apply it on your anal skin.

  1. Garlic

Garlic is rich in antibacterial, antiseptic and antifungal properties that help you by reducing infections and anal itching. You can crush some garlic cloves and then boilthem with some milk or you can also consume 2-3 garlic cloves before your mealtime for about a week.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

It is a good natural home remedy to reduce anal itching. It can control the infection and can alkalize the body. Simply, add a few tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water and drink it twice a dayto get relief.

  1. Try to manage your stress

Studies have showed that too much of stress can increase many health probles. So, try to manage your stress as stress and anxiety have an effect on your hormones. As, there is no evidance of stress and anal itching but there may be indirect relation of stress and anal itching.

  1. Aloe Vera

If you are facing the problem of anal itching then you should not avoid this home remedy. Aloe Vera is in our list because a research study has proved that it contains properties that can help in relieving inflammation, soreness and itching.

  1. Yogurt

As we all know how useful is Yogurt for our health. Yogurt contains probiotics, which can help manage the infection growth and reduce anal itching problem. You have to consume 2-3 cups of yogurt daily and you can also apply some yogurt on your infected skin and then wash it off after half an hour with lukewarm water.

  1. Drink plenty of water

Drinking plenty of water can help you getting rid of germs and harmful toxins from your gastrointestinal tract. So, try to drink a lot of water according to your body weight. Water can give you relief from burning and itching in your anal area.

  1. Oatmeal

You should not skip Oatmeal as a natural home remedy for anal itching. Oatmeal contains anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Add some oatmeal into warm water and soak your anus in the mixture for about 20 minutes. You can also take bath using oatmeal 1-2 times daily.

  1. Keep your bottom dry

Wet anal can cause itching and irritation so try to keep your bottom dry. You can use toilet paper, cotton ball, or a clean towel to keep your bottom dry. You can also use hair dryer to dry your bottom.

  1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contains antifungal, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that help reducing infections and anal itching. Add some tablespoon of coconut oil to your daily diet by cooking your dishes with coconut oil. You can also apply warm coconut oil directly on the affected skin to reduce itching and burning sensations.

  1. Move

When you sit in the same place for  a very long time, it can make your clothes stick to the anal area and itb becomes inflamed and irritated. So, keep moving around for several hours to get more blood flow to your anal skin area.

  1. Petroleum Jelly

Simply applying it can reduce the burning sensation and ittitation. It has a cooling sensation and it is an easily available home remedy to get relief.

  1. Avoid using cheap soaps

Using deodorized or perfumed soaps can cause more irritation on your affected area. Try to use unscented soaps especially for your sensitive skin area.

  1. Ice Packs

It can be used to treat inflamed hemorrhoids, which is believed to be one of the common causes of anal itching. You just have to place some ice cubes into a bag and then place it on your anal area for a few minutes.

  1. Fiber Foods

As we already know constipation can cause itching in the anal area so try to treat constipation to completely get relief from itching. Try to take fiber rich foods daily to improve digestion. Add broccoli, sunflower seeds, peas, pumpkin seeds and green leafy vegetables daily to your diet.

  1. Damp toilet paper

Dry toilet paper cannot wipe off all the traces of stool after having bowel movements so you should make your toilet paper a little damp before using it. After using wet toilet paper you should use dry toilet paper to reduce excess moisture in your anal area.

  1. Avoid Steroid cream

Try to avoid using steroids cream on your anal skin area as this can make your skin thinner and this can lead to cracked skin. Also avoid using Hydrocortisone cream for a few days.

  1. Keep the area clean

Your anal area can get delicate in case you just wipe off the anus after bowel movements and it will get more irritated. So, wipe it off regularly for a tougher skin.

  1. Don’t scratch

Try to avoid scratching as you get instant relief from it but this can make your anal skin area irritated and even cause inflammation. There are different ways to deal with itching.

  1. Epsom salt

Epsom salt is a good home remedy to deal with anal itching. It can help reducing burning sensations and itching in the anal area. You have to add some Epsom salt to your warm bath water and soak your anus in this water for 20 minutes. Finally pat it dry with a clean towel.

  1. Underwear

Try to wear soft underwear because the soft fabric between your anus and the material of the pant will help to keep the area dry and lower the risk of developing anal itching. Don’t put on tight underwear as they can keep the area moisturized resulting in anal itching.

  1. Control your diet

Control your diet as it is the best home remedy to treat anal itching. Always avoid consuming beer, soda, liquor and foods with high content of vitamin C. Avoiding spicy food can be really helpful to reduce itching. Eat a healthy fiber rich diet and drink a lot of water.

  1. Avoid Food Allergens

Try to avoid food allergens as they can lead to inflammation, skin irritation, and itchiness. Always try to avoid spicy foods .Foods like alcohol, tea, soda coffee and even chocolate can increase anal itching.

  1. Licorice

You should not avoid licorice if you are suffering from anal itching. The herb can help in treating psoriasis, irritation, eczema, and anal itching. You have to roast licorice and then grind cardamom and myrobalan to get a fine powder. Add ¼ teaspoons of this powder and 1 teaspoon of honey into a cup of warm water. Drink it daily until you see an improvement.
